About a year ago, we switched to continuous delivery, which allowed us to go from one release every two weeks to more than 6 releases a day.
To do this, we simplified our product, capped our automated tests at 10 minutes runtime, moved to a Service-Oriented Architecture and adopted roll forwards to fix bugs. The technical changes we made have radically impacted our product development culture, helping us turn into a strong data-driven organization. We built a feature flipper framework that allows us control which users see which features. We use this to run A/B tests, which in turn let's our users tell us which version of a feature to put into full production.
I'll talk about both the technical and cultural changes and the challenges of getting there and maintaining our focus on users.
